Hyderabad: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Hyderabad has forecast heavy rains for today and tomorrow, prompting the issuance of a yellow alert for various districts in Telangana, including Hyderabad.

Rainfall Forecast and Alerts

The IMD Hyderabad has warned residents of potential heavy rainfall, which has already begun in some areas of the city. The yellow alert indicates a likelihood of light to moderate rainfall or thundershowers accompanied by gusty winds. While the yellow alert is valid for the next two days, rainfall is expected to persist in Hyderabad until August 10.

Southwest Monsoon Rainfall Statistics

During the current Southwest Monsoon season, Telangana has recorded 487.6 mm of rainfall, surpassing the normal 401.8 mm, marking a 21 percent deviation. In contrast, Hyderabad has experienced slightly less rainfall than usual, receiving 295.1 mm against the normal 313 mm, a deviation of -6 percent.

Recent Rainfall Records

Yesterday, Khammam district experienced the highest rainfall in the state, with 148.5 mm recorded. In Hyderabad, the highest rainfall was 4.3 mm, noted in Bandlaguda. The predicted heavy rains over the next few days are likely to increase the overall rainfall tally for the city.
